Zapaka Dress Review

The dress I'm modeling in this post was kindly gifted to me by Zapaka. I did not get paid to write this post.

A while ago, I was contacted by a brand called Zapaka, and they very kindly asked if they could send me dress to try on for my blog. They have some lovely vintage dresses on their website, so of course I said yes.

Zapaka have both straight-size and plus-size dresses. However, I'm wearing the biggest size they offer (3XL), so I would mostly recommend the site for those of you who are my size or smaller than me. Generally in dresses I wear a EU size 48 / UK 20 / US 16, but I am bigger on my bottom half (wide hips and big thighs), and I am 179 cm tall. I would say that the measurements table on the Zapaka site matches the dress I got, so you can go by that.

I chose this lovely Red Vintage A Line Asymmetrical Swing Dress. The delivery was fast and the quality of the fabric is nice. The packaging of the dress was also pretty, featuring the Zapaka logo in a lovely teal color.

As for the negatives, I did not realize that being plus-size, tall and having wide hips would make the asymmetrical dress very short in the front on me. The length mentioned it the measurements refers to the longest part of the hem. As you can see from the photos, the dress is the perfect length from the back, but the shortest part on the front would be very revealing if I wasn't wearing leggings under the dress. For me, this dress will work nicely as a tunic over leggings or skinny jeans, but on someone shorter and more petite it would probably be a very pretty dress.

The dress has a zipper in the back, and I did have some issues with it, it was a bit stiff to zip up and down. However, the material of the dress has stretch, so you don't really need to open the zipper. All the dresses on the Zapaka website have the materials listed, so you'll know if it has stretch. They also have tips on how to clean the dresses, for example, which I found a nice, helpful detail.

I have attached a photo of the dress from their website as well as the photos of me wearing it, as it is very short on me, like I mentioned above. It would probably sit better on a different body type; even though it is available from sizes XS to 3XL, which is great, it's not really designed for a tall, plus-size woman. However, I do think I still look pretty cute in it! I styled it with black leggings and red booties. (Note that the dress looks like it's a lighter color because of the lighting in my photos. In real life the color is more similar to that on the website).

Thank you again to Zapaka for sending me this dress!
