Rating my old outfits: Christmas edition!

 Hi everyone!

It's time for another instalment in my "rating my old outfits" series! Naturally, I have to do a Christmas edition, as the holidays are upon us. I haven't decided on this year's Christmas outfit(s) yet, but maybe you can help me – I have a YouTube video on my favourite plus-size holiday dresses, and another one that features some new picks that I might wear. I will link those below.

While I haven't decided on my actual Christmas outfits yet, I have worn a couple of very Christmassy looks lately, so I will include them here as "representatives" of 2021!

My husband and I recently went on a lovely little trip to Naantali Spa & Hotel for our anniversary. I wore the above dresses to dinner on Friday and Saturday nights during our stay. The green dress is from SHEIN. I got it last year, but I believe it's still available. The red dress is from Boohoo, and that's quite old – from 2017, if I remember correctly. Obviously, both of these get a 10/10 from me. Check out more details in the video below!

Now, I don't have any photos of my actual Christmas Eve or Christmas Day outfit from 2020 – mainly because I wore the same thing in 2019 and 2020, so you'll see that dress soon enough. However, I have another anniversary dress, and an outfit I wore to a Zoom Christmas party last year.

I really have to give a 10/10 for both these looks, too. The first one (anniversary outfit) is an adorable red milkmaid dress from Missguided, styled with a silver belt from ASOS. I think it might be one of the best items I've ever bought from Missguided, as they tend to be a bit hit and miss for me.

The second outfit was for the remote Christmas party. I really went all out, didn't I? The dress is from Rosegal, and it was actually gifted to me for a YouTube video. I'll insert the video below, in case you're interested – it's from last year, but it might still give you some fashion inspiration!

Moving on to 2019, it's time for my all-time favourite Christmas dress...

This dress is from ASOS, and I have worn it on two Christmas Eves in a row. Stunning colour, beautiful style, amazing quality. Can I give it an 11/10? I can, and I will.

In 2018, I spent Christmas at home with my husband, just the two of us. Which is probably reflected in the dress, haha! It's very... sensual. I feel like it's more like a summer dress? It was from Forever21. I guess it's red, but not really Christmassy. For that, it only gets a 7/10.

I don't really have an outfit photo taken on Christmas for 2017 – only the selfie, where you can see I wore a green, crushed velvet dress (from Forever21). I do have a couple of other outfits, though. The middle one I wore to my work Christmas party. I'll give it an 8/10, because clearly I had a vision, although it is currently unclear to me what that vision was. At least it's sparkly!

The last picture from 2017 is an outfit I wore a couple of days before Christmas. I think I wore it to some work-related event, I can't really remember anymore... but I like it! The satin dress was from ASOS, and I think it's cute but work-appropriate with the blazer. I no longer own either of those items, but it was a nice outfit. 9/10.

In 2016, I wore this navy, velvet dress from Marks & Spencer. It's nice, but nothing special. 7/10. I look adorable in the picture, though!

In 2015, my husband and I had just returned from our honeymoon. Perhaps I was still feeling the warmth of our trip, since I seem to be barefoot and lacking in accessories... The dress is pretty, though! It's from Boohoo, and I actually still have it. I have worn it this year, even! Man, Boohoo used to make such great clothes. Sadly they have really gone downhill since... Anyway, 8/10 for this. Cute dress, non-existent styling.

I didn't have anything remotely Christmassy for 2014, so we'll skip that year. This is what I wore on our anniversary (which is very close to Christmas, as you may have gathered) in 2013. I look impossibly young here! And also kind of like I'm going to a wedding (which is fair enough, since I remember wearing that same dress to a wedding in 2012). The bag and shoes don't go with the rest of the outfit at all. 6/10.

Last but certainly not least, here is an outfit I wore to a Christmas party in 2011 (I didn't really have any pics from 2012, either). Have you ever seen an outfit that screams 2011 more than this? It's hilarious now, but I remember I was actually really into it back them. For nostalgia reasons (and the fact that it definitely was on trend in 2011), I'll give it a 7/10.

So, there you have it! Ten years worth of holiday season fashion. Please leave me a comment and let me know your favourites – I would love to hear them! Also, would you like to see one of these posts about New Year's Eve looks as well? Because those are fabulous!

I'll leave you with my latest YouTube video, which is a fashion haul and contains a couple of options I might wear this year. Follow me on Instagram so you'll know what I picked!

For those who celebrate Christmas, I wish you a very merry one! If you don't celebrate, I hope you have a wonderful week!
