Isolation fashion

Hey guys,

obviously, this spring has been a very strange time for most of us. We are all stuck at home most of the time (with the exception of essential workers – and by the way, THANK YOU for doing the work you do, if you happen to read this), which can be mentally difficult from time to time. I often find myself restless and in need of something to do, so I do what I do best: I play dress up.

(FYI – I'm not working at the moment and I don't have kids. I understand that for some people the current situation can mean having LESS time for yourself. This is just my personal experience).

So, I thought I would share some of my recent outfits and makeup looks with you. Maybe you'll get some inspiration from them, or maybe you could just use a distraction from all the negative news!

Dress - ASOS (Club L)
Shoes - Primark (old)
Headband - ASOS
Pearls - vintage

It's safe to stay that I'm not a "loungewear" person. Obviously I don't dress like this every day, but sometimes it's nice to go "full glam", just because. You don't need a reason to wear a pretty dress, even if you're just at home! I bought this dress in late 2019, but I recall seeing it in the ASOS Outlet not that long ago, so if you like it, it's worth having a look there. Club L dresses tend to run small, so size up at least one size, especially if you're busty.

Top - SHEIN
Skirt - Fashion Nova
Tights - ASOS
Bra - ASOS

...and then for something totally different! I loved this outfit. I've noticed that when I'm staying at home, I can "safely" try out looks that are a bit out of my comfort zone, like this sheer top. Turns out that I felt pretty comfortable in this outfit – I even went to the grocery store like this, although I did put a jacket over it. I could imagine wearing it on a night out in the future (when going out is safe again, obviously).

Dress - Boohoo
Earrings - H&M (old)
Shoes - New Look (old)

I wore this bright fuchsia dress on a day when I was feeling quite low. Bright colors are an instant mood-booster. I really like this dress (even though it is a bit short) – especially the sleeves are cute. This one is not that old, so you may still be able to get it on the Boohoo website. A lot of people on Instagram loved this one!

Bodysuit - Forever21
Jeans - Forever21

Another Instagram favorite, and another out of my comfort zone look. I'm so sad that Forever21 doesn't have an European online store anymore. They were one of my favorite stores for some really cutting-edge, trendy looks that were never frumpy or boring! Oh well, at least I still have some of my favorite items. The jeans are quite a bit more distressed than they used to be, since I've worn them to death. The bodysuit is also really cool. It's lined in the bust part, so you can't REALLY see through it, but it gives a kind of nude illusion.

Finally, some of my favorite makeup looks I've been doing lately. Makeup is like therapy for me – I'm definitely not the best at it, but I find it so relaxing to have something creative to do!

I'm learning more and more about makeup and beauty products, what works for me and what doesn't. Let me know if you would like to see more makeup content here on the blog or on my YouTube channel!

I hope everyone is staying safe and healthy. We will get through this difficult time and better days will come!
